Fun & games during the game

Raise your game with tailgate games.

Let’s face it—sometimes the game’s a snoozer. Or maybe you have a houseful and they’re all not quite ready to slap on the face paint. Not a problem, since it’s more about getting together and having fun, right? So we have suggestions for tailgate and homegate games that will keep your get-togethers fun before, during and after game time.

Cornhole
You might know it as “bags” or “bean bag toss.” Whatever you call it, it’s a favorite tailgate activity for adults and kids. You can buy them premade or have a little DIY fun using two-by-fours. Board blueprints and beanbags are easy to find online.

Tower Tumble
You know that classic game with wooden blocks, where you take out one, stack it on top and try not to topple the tower? Yeah, that one. It’s perfect for game time. Get some two-by-fours and sandpaper and make your own giant version.

Washer Toss
Similar to cornhole, except you’re pitching washers at targets instead of bags at boards. They’re also smaller than cornhole, easier to play indoors and more convenient to store. You can buy a set or easily make one using ¾” plywood, PVC and 2” washers.

Chili Cookoff
Got a buddy who thinks his chili is the best? (Clearly he’s wrong, because yours is.) Add a chili cookoff to the invite for all your friends to spice up the game day competition.

Now go put on your face paint. It’s almost game time.

Cheers to being responsible.

A great host takes care of every little detail, especially when it comes to helping guests celebrate responsibly. For every occasion you plan, be sure to serve food, provide nonalcoholic options, and offer a safe ride home.
